Easy, just use official metered taxis from the que or take official limo inside the airport (meaning one of the desks, not the touts hanging around).

As writen on another site within, I have always used unmetered "taxis", those usually stopped and fined by police, and have paid a reasonable price of 800 baht to Royal Hotel(considering N.Y. prices this is reasonable). However, I would like to take a metered taxi to Suk. soi 20. Are they found on the floor above arrivals-at departures on the second floor?

The real price is about 300.

If you actually got the BMW 7 series car that they show in their advertising boards dropping you off 800 is ok but outraegous for a Toyota type taxi that you could get downtown for 300 including highway toll.

A limousine should be just that anything else is mis representation and youd be better off with the taxi or airport bus.

The Suvarnabhumi airport link skytrains coming to change everything forever but dont hold your breath given the economic downturn.

The rail link from Bangkok to the airport is supposedly opening in August. Then see what the taxi drivers do.

When the touts are working the desk line at the airport is is difficult to know who is desk and who is tout. Soon they will probably have their own desk and official stamp.

I can't get my head around why people still take anything else than a regular taxi from airport into BKK (or the offical limo if you want)?! there is an official taxi line or if you want to save THB 50, just go to departure level and take taxi that just dropped somebody off. if he does not want to turn on meter, tell him to fxxk off and take the next taxi, who eagerly looks for a fare back into the city...

People still take the Limo since the AOT Limo people have signs in the baggage area, telling travelers the regular taxies cannot be trusted.

My folks visited Bangkok and got the official Thai welcome..yes, scammed at the airport by the AOT touts.
They were "warning" arrivals about getting "cheated " at the taxi desk.
Ended up paying 900 baht instead of the 300 a regular taxi charges.

Nowadays even if you wait obediently outside the airport Q like the regular people, proceed to the counter to tell the staff your desination, its no guarantee the staff won't gang up with the taxi driver to tell you in your face that they're charging you 500 baht flat. Happened to my friends. Good luck. LOL

Why should we accept the AOT misleading visitors into paying 900 baht for a 300 baht ride?

I am new here, and feel a bit inadequate about giving advice when there are others here that are a lot more experienced.

In the past I have gone up to the departures and caught a cab from there. I would much rather give the cab driver 50b extra than the airport owners.

I am keen to hear more info on either the skytrain or train. From my last observations it looked like the skytrain was years away from completion. I will be heading there in mid May. Does anyone have some news on this. I am not trying to save a buck, more I enjoy the interaction with the locals than a boring cab ride to the Siam Square.

How much is the AOT service from the new airport to the Royal Orchid Sheraton??? My husband paid B1300 last night and was told we would get a 4 hour sightseeing tour for free. I doubted it and said it was too expensive. He paid anyhow. We got ripped, right???

A trip to Bangkok from the airport in a nice Toyota Altis is about 300 baht.
The AOT has misleading signs in the secure baggage area so you will use their overpriced "limo" service.
A ripoff run by the AOT.
Imagine that.

AOT is not a scam, it's a legitimate limousine service, with fixed prices. Isuzu SUV is 950bt, including tolls and you can move up the price range from there. However, there are other freelance limo touts who loiter in the AOT area. I suggest these are the ones saying that the regular taxi service is not reliable. I alway use a limo from the airport to the city, to avoid any taxi queues. I look at the difference in price between the limo and a regular taxi and opt to pay it. Nowhere else in the world can you get a quality limo service at such a cheap price. And no, I don't work for them. I just get sick of the griping from cheap tourists.

Have any of the beautiful Thai Girls in the yellow AOT uniforms ever told anyone that other taxi's can not be trusted.
As for these sign's, where exactly are they and do they have the AOT logo on them to prove they are from AOT.

While AOT can be considered expensive compared with the metered taxi's, you are paying for what you get.

AOT is convenient, you can make the booking while waiting for your luggage on airside. When you pass customs and reach landside there will be more yellow uniforms to take care of you.

They will have one of the employees take your baggage and escort you to the pick-up point for your chosen vehicle.

This way you don't get hasseled by all the touts, and how much is that worth to you!

AOT have a printed price list to all major destinations and the cost for each vehicle type, but if you are nice and smile and laugh with them you can get a discount.

But having said all that I will still walk upstairs to arrivals and catch a metered taxi if I'm only going into the city.



This should work even more now there are not so many tourists come to Thailand.

We arrived at Suvarnabhumi and use AOT limo inside baggages claim area.
The price we paid was around THB1000 each. We been advise to take 2 Limo since we are 11 persons.
So we paid THB2000 something. At the limo stop, they packed us in 1 SUV, though we handed 2 reciept.
Was that a AOT scam?

Has anyone heard of a Limo company called VNT Transport. I found their website at the BKK Airport website. They are quoting $33 for a air conditioned van for 4 adults and 3 young children payable by paypal. They have a decent webpage and seem legit. Thanks

In comparison with other countries, Thai service is quite genuine.
Whatever rates you get, still cheaper than you need to pay in your country.
So better just remember what is good in Thai, to make you happy,
than keep posting a negative scams which will only make you a headache!
