Agrosy Gem is now Pan-Siamese Gem...Scam
Wednesday, 28 January 2009

FYI to those travelling to Bangkok. Agrosy gem is now Pan-Siamese Gem. Still the same scam. Beware! I almost fell a victim. Same tactics. I was told by a seemingly friendly thai near the Pier leading to Grand Palace that the Palace was closed . Directed to ride a tuk-tuk to Lucky Buddha where i was met by a young professional looking thai. Same old story ... tuktuk took me to the Pan-siamese Gems and was presented with overpriced sapphire jewelries. Little do they know that I researched jewelry prices here in the US before heading to Bangkok. This store even has a website.

Beware!

Thank you for the useful information and the heads up. I would say that the clue to your success in discovering the scam in time was of course that you came prepared. Maybe not for the closed palace or other local tricks, but just having researched the prices of gems ahead of time was your salvation. After all it's not the tuk-tuk that would have cost you your shirt. A good argument for preparing well before setting out for the land of destination. Besides, there is nothing as wholesome as being familiar with the culture and what one hopes to experience and nothing more frustrating and I might addpotentially dangerous as going unprepared.
