Nat Guesthouse/restaurant, Khao San Rd. Bangkok

I am a resident of Bangkok via the USA.  Every once in a while I find myself on Khao San Rd. for one reason or another.  I almost always stop for a bite to eat at the Nat Guesthouse and am usually served my Thai lady (approx. 30 years old, with bleached white hair).  She's very energitic an usually brings a smile to my face.  Part way through my meal, this food server asked me to pay my bill because she had to go home.  That in itself is not unusual for any restaurant so I agreed.  When presented with the bill, I noticed the final amount was not totaled, so I asked her to write down the final cost.  Right away, I could tell "something was up" because she looked behind her to make sure the manager wasn't looking and she wrote on her hand the amount I should pay.  Lazy as I am, I decided to total the bill myself and found she had added an extral 190 baht.  Since my wife was out shopping at the time, I told her that my wife had my wallet and I'd pay the manager when my wife returned.

I want to make this clear, I have no proof, nor do I consider Nat GH complicit in this bill padding scam...I just want people to check their bill when served by that waitress.

Thanks,

Dan

Unfortunately for scammer (named Lek), one of Bangkokscams team members visited Natt Guesthouse last week and showed this story to the owner. The owner said that she had suspected the scammer for quite a while and now she had the proof. In fact 'Lek' has been arrested before for theft. 'Lek' was fired on the spot. She is now working at the nearby Phat Thai restaurant. Bangkokscams will allow her to work there for a few more days before again informing the owner.

Anymore thieves you would like to see fired, write details here.

Not the first time that this "mistake" happened to me: the change-trick, sorry, mistake, with the 1.000 Baht note and getting change back as one paid with a 500 Baht note! Last time it happened to me in Gullivers', Sukhumvit Soi 5 in Bangkok.

Problem is that lots of times the nota has been directly put away before getting back the change.

In Gullivers', after complaining, 2 or 3 staff showed suddenly up to "wittness" that I was wrong!
